What do our Governors do?

They are a very important set of volunteers who meet to discuss important issues about the school.

They behave like a board of directors.

Governors:

1. Meet at least 3 times a year, sometimes more.
2. They are involved in appointing staff and review the performance of the head teacher annually.
3. They agree a budget plan.
4. They agree academic targets for Year 6 and ask questions about standards in the school.
5. They ask for lots of reports from the staff and Head teacher.
6. They respond to letters.
7. They make decisions about holiday patterns.
8. The number of staff we have.
9. They agree improvements to the building.
10. They discipline staff and pupils.
11. They listen to pupils, staff and parents.
12. They come into school when they can, to get to know what goes on.
13. They celebrate success and challenge the staff when things don’t always go well.
14. They are responsible for the health and wellbeing of the staff.
15. They delegate the responsibility for pupil health and safety to the Head.

What they don’t do:

The day to day management of the school, this is the responsibility of the headteacher/Co-Headteacher.
