Welcome to the Year 6 gallery

As part of our work on 'Salamander Dreams', we made mind maps about the forest, and the things we might experience there.

We have also been learning about dinosaurs.  As part of this work, we have looked at the bodies of the dinosaurs, and how we could make a stable one.  These are some of our finished dinosaurs!

As part of our dinosaur topic, we wondered how palaeontologists knew what dinosaurs ate.  In order to answer this question, we dissected owl pellets to see if we could work out what the owls had been eating.  As you can see, we had to work closely as a team to answer this question, and we were fascinated by what we found!

6J working on their short story, set in the woods...

Year 6 have begun to learn about the Shakespeare play 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.  As part of their work, they have used drama to try and understand the four 'worlds' of the play.  They matched words from the play to different scenes, and made Tableaux (or snapshots) to show what was happening in that world at that time.

The world of the Athenian Court - ruled by the Duke Theseus, and the world where Lysander, Demetrius, Helena and Hermia live.

The world of the couples - Hermia and Lysander and Helena and Demetrius.  Their love story is complicated, but at least they all get a happy ending!

The World of the Fairy Court - ruled by the King of the fairies, Oberon, and his queen, Titania.

The World of the Mechanicals (workers) - they are trying to rehearse a play for the Duke's wedding, and they end up becoming involved in the row between Oberon and Titania, with hilarious results!

This term Year 6 have been practicing their balancing skills. Having previously mastered individual and partner balances, 6K have now moved onto large group balances.
