This was true as of March 2020 and we hope to start this program again soon.
Lunchtime Activities
The Killinghall Lunchtime Football League continues to be a huge success for year 5 & 6. This offers the children the opportunity to take part in a competitive league on a weekly basis, which is run, organised and lead by the children…including our very own Killinghall referee! We had over 90 children participate in 2019 – 20. We hope to start up the Lunchtime Football League again as soon as possible.
Our children are given the opportunity to take part in games and activities led by the fantastic Matt from Little Sports Coaching. These activities are for every year group and help to encourage physical activity in the playground.
Allison, our lunchtime sports leader, offers a variety of activities in the hall during lunchtimes also. Her personal favourites are ‘Duck, duck, goose’ for EYFS & KS1 and badminton for KS2.
Competitions

Killinghall Primary School is an active participant in the Sainsbury School Games through Hanson Academy who organise and host weekly sporting competitions throughout the year. These competitions can lead to regional and county finals. Killinghall has also been awarded the School Games Bronze award for the high number of children participating in regular physical activity.
We also participate in the local community working closely with nearby schools to arrange weekly interschool competitions to enable as many children as possible to experience interschool sport and competition. These schools include Lapage Primary, Byron Primary & Dixons Marchbank.
We hope to return to our sporting competitions in the near future.
The Daily Mile

During 2019 – 20, our Year 3 & Year 5 classes have been actively participating in the Daily Mile initiative, which aims to get children out in the playground every day for 15 minutes to engage in some form of physical activity, whether it is running, walking or skipping!
