Whitby 24

Day 1 2024

Whitby Abbey

Today year 6 took a look around Whitby Abbey, the historic English monastery,  renowned for its dramatic clifftop location overlooking the North Sea.

Town Trail

In the afternoon, year 6 pupils explored the charming cobbled streets and Gothic architecture of Whitby's town centre. Renowned for its connection to Bram Stoker's Dracula and its thriving fishing industry, Whitby remains a popular tourist destination.

Night Walk

Finally, the children embarked on a night walk, venturing through the cemetery and other nearby areas surrounding the abbey. As darkness fell, they listened to chilling ghost stories.

Day 2

Viking Traing

Year 6 participated in a swords and shield training after exploring the historical context of the Whitby invasion.

Captain Cook

In the afternoon, the children embarked on an afternoon excursion to Captain Cook's museum, where they delved into the fascinating world of his remarkable voyages.

Pirate Party

The day concluded with a swashbuckling adventure as year 6 plundered the Pirate Party! 🏴‍☠️

Day 3

Before hitting the road home, year 6 traded textbooks for sandy toes! They soaked up the sun on the beach, learned about marine life at the Whitby Marine Discovery Centre, and capped off the morning with a souvenir hunt and a frosty treat in the unexpected October sunshine.
